21 Feb 2014 - Camping by-law to give police, council officers more power - The AdvocateA BY-LAW to give council officers and police officers more power to deal with squatting campers caused a ripple at Tuesday night's Kentish Council meeting.
The by-law, which was passed almost unanimously by the council, ensures councillors and police officers have the power to remove campers and vehicles that have outstayed the allotted 21 days.
Councillor Peter Campbell voted against the motion to approve the by-law as he believed it gave the council too much power to continually create by-laws into the future.
"When are we going to get it right?" he asked the council on Tuesday night.
