14 May 2014 - RVs still a hot topic at council - Coastal Leader
  • FREE parking for Recreational Vehicles (RVs) is still a hot topic for Kingston District Council.

The issue was again in the spotlight at the April monthly meeting after the Caravan Parks Association of SA wrote to the council.
It released a document aimed at minimising the development of what it describes as non-compliant camping areas in towns where caravan parks already provide facilities for travellers.
Before council discussed the report, Kingston Caravan Park owner Kevin Pascoe addressed the meeting.

26 March 2014 -  Free parks vs caravan parks (Kingston SA) - Coastal Leader
  • Free RV and caravan parking is again under the microscope. SA Parks last week released a document aimed at minimising the development of non-compliant camping areas in towns where caravan parks already provide facilities for travellers. SA Parks said the development of non-compliant camping areas in the close vicinity of existing caravan parks was a problem that had been developing in recent times. Kingston District Council has discussed the benefits and disadvantages at length on several occasions. Mayor Evan Flint said it was a difficult line council had to take, as many travellers these days had self-contained RVs. "Council works to move on travellers who do not meet specifications of a self-contained RV," Mr Flint said.

30 Apr 2013 - 'Hippie vans' threatening Kingston's park. - Coastal Leader
  • "HIPPIE vans" and other non-compliant vehicles parking for free in Kingston are threatening the future of the town's caravan park, its owner says. Kingston District Council voted to restrict vehicle access to the town's four "RV friendly" zones after Kingston Caravan Park owner Kevin Pascoe made an impassioned plea for something to be done about the "freeloaders" who weren't bringing any benefit to the town.
