- MACLEAN is now fully licensed to cash in on the lucrative business recreational vehicle owners offer to regional centres around Australia.
The town has joined Grafton and 214 other Australian towns as a designated RV Friendly Town with the installation of a dump point at the Maclean Showground to allow motor home and caravan users to dispose of their liquid waste.
Clarence Valley Mayor, Richie Williamson, said attracting tourists to a town was not just about accommodation.
"It is about the whole of the economy and benefiting the broader business community," he said.

- THOUSANDS of dollars are driving straight past Maclean every day.
But the Chamber of Commerce thinks offering up a free overnight rest area at Ilarwill could see some of that cash splashed in the Scottish town.
Clarence Valley Council staff are looking at the viability of the scheme, which the Maclean chamber's acting president, John Riggall, said would be owned by the community.
"It has to be stressed, this is a community effort. We only need the council's help to set it up," he said. "We don't want financial backing."
